TNF May Internal Newsletter
May was a fun-filled month, packed with exciting events and memorable moments! Here are the May highlights.
Career Expos Shine as May's Highlight Event!
Our career expos have indeed been a great highlight for the month of May. The journey began at Eqinisweni Secondary School, where learners were buzzing with excitement as they met our exhibitors. Some even walked away with gifts. The enthusiasm was contagious, setting a positive tone for the events to come.
Next, we travelled to Siyabonga Secondary School in Braamfisherville. The energy there was electric, especially among the grade 9 learners who were eager to explore various career paths. Their curiosity and excitement made the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
We concluded our expos at Willow Crescent Secondary School in Eldorado Park. The learners there were exceptionally polite and engaging. It was a fun and lively atmosphere, filled with learning and discovery. At the end of each expo, we held a quiz where learners could share what they had learned. Those who answered correctly were rewarded with a copy of "Born a Crime" by Trevor Noah. We encouraged the learners to answer confidently, reminding them that there were no wrong answers.
A huge thank you to all our exhibitors who made these events possible: Netcare 911, Meraki Legal, First National Bank (FNB), South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), University of Johannesburg (UJ), Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD),City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) , Rachel Software Developer, Sasol Engineers, and Dr Ipeleng Makhema, Nurse Phumza Ramalope and .Nurse Katleho Thothobolo. Thank you for your support and for inspiring our learners to dream big and aim high.
These expos were more than just events; they were opportunities for learners to envision their future and gain valuable insights into potential career paths. Fun was definitely had, and the impact will be felt for years to come.
KSP Impact Video Watch Parties: A Stellar Success!
We are delighted to share the success of our recent watch parties, hosted at Siyabonga Secondary School, Willow Crescent secondary School, and Eqinisweni Secondary Schools. These events were a fantastic opportunity to introduce our KSP Impact Video to the learners and to inform them about the various programs we are running in their schools.
The watch parties specifically targeted grade 8 and 9 learners, who are new to high school and may not yet be familiar with our partnerships with their schools. By engaging with these students early, we aimed to spark their interest and involvement in our initiatives.
We were thrilled to see a high level of enthusiasm, particularly for our AI and Robotics and Digital Skills programs. Many learners expressed their interest and signed up at their respective schools. We are excited to see them take the next step and actively participate in these programs.
A big thank you to our KSP Secondary Schools for their support and collaboration. Together, we are making a significant impact on the future of these young learners.

Election Day: A Pillar of Our Democracy

This day is a tribute to the long struggle for freedom and equality, honouring those who fought for the right to vote.
By casting our votes, we exercise our democratic rights and pay homage to these heroes, reiterating our commitment to democracy, justice, and equality. In Loving Memory: Tribute to Ma'am Boitumelo Letlape
With great sadness, we share the heartbreaking news of the untimely passing of one of our cherished educators and esteemed member of our Task team, Ma'am Boitumelo Letlape, from our KSP School, Siyabonga Secondary School.
Ma'am Letlape wasn't just a teacher; she was a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness, and a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love for her students knew no bounds, and her dedication to their well-being was unwavering.
She possessed a rare gift of profoundly understanding her students' needs, always striving to create opportunities for their growth and development. Whether through her involvement in various educational programs or her tireless efforts to advocate for her students' success, Ma'am Letlape's impact was profound and enduring.
Her commitment to excellence extended beyond the classroom walls. As a task team member for Trevor Noah Foundation's initiatives at our school, Ma'am Letlape brought boundless enthusiasm and creativity to the table. Her remarkable ideas and steadfast support were instrumental in the success of the programs, including the fundraising efforts that provided crucial support to our school kitchen, ensuring that no student ever went hungry.
It was Ma'am Letlape's compassion and empathy that truly set her apart. She was not only an educator but also a guardian angel for the most vulnerable among us. Her keen eye for identifying students in need and her selfless dedication to helping them, whether it was through providing school uniforms or offering additional English classes, exemplified the depth of her care and concern for her students' well-being.

As we grapple with the loss of a beloved educator, let us take comfort in the enduring legacy of love, compassion, and dedication that Ma'am Letlape leaves behind. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May her memory continue to inspire us to strive for excellence and to always extend a helping hand to those in need.
